What is LiPo?
Lithium-polymer accumulators, or Lipo accumulators for short, are a lot smaller and more powerful than conventional NiCd or NiMH accumulators. They can deliver high currents and have a comparatively very high storage capacity. This makes them perfect for use with tuned weapons where there is actually very little space for batteries (e.g. M4 A1, MP5 A5 etc)
What are the dangers?
Unfortunately, LiPo batteries also have a downside: If used improperly, they can pose a danger to the device and the user. A LiPo battery must never be exposed to mechanical force or direct sunlight. If a LiPo is charged with a conventional charger for NiMH or NiCd batteries, a total loss is to be expected. Only special LiPo balancers may be used. If the LiPo battery is undercharged or overcharged, a loss of capacity or even a total loss can be expected.
